北向き子育て地蔵は明治年代から続くもので、現在のお地蔵さまで３代目となります。北向きに立っているのは、北が鬼門の方角だからであり、悪霊や病が入ってくるのを守っています。
North facing Kosodate (parenting) Jizo has been here from Meiji era (over 100 years ago), the current Jizo is the third generation. The Jizo is standing north facing because the north is the the direction of the demon gate, and to prevent for demons and diseases from coming in.
