Five layers stone tower of Sano family

Katsushika City-designated tangible cultural properties ]

4-9-3, Higashitateishi, Katsushika-ku, Tokyo

This five layers stone tower built in Kanei 9th (1632) is a tombstone of Isenokami who is the ancestor of Sano family in this place. There are a few five layers stone tower of the Kanei era in Katsushika City, but this tower height is 2.2m, it's very excellent one. Five layers represent Earth, Water, Fire, Wind and Sky, based on the idea during the Heian period (794-1185) that those fives create the universe.
