3匹の猿が両手でそれぞれ目、耳、口を隠している像です。3匹の猿というモチーフは、古代エジプトやアンコールワットにも見られるもので、シルクロードを経由して日本に伝わり、日本国内には庚申信仰の伝播とともに近世以降に広まったと考えられています。

It is a statue of three monkeys hiding their eyes, ears, and mouth with both hands. It finds the motif of three monkeys in ancient Egypt and Angkor Wat, and was introduced to Japan via the Silk Road. It is thought that it spread throughout Japan after the early modern period with the spread of the Koshin belief.
